That's good advice. You definitely need to be careful about contractors. Where I live some contractors like to over-charge elderly women or over-sell them on additional repairs and renos. I think it's so unethical that they would pick on the elderly in this way. Some of these retired folks end up with liens against their properties and end up in serious financial trouble later on when they can't pay the inflated repair costs.

a word of caution also when hiring builders, in 2002 the area i live in was seriously flooded, people wanted to move back into their homes so quickly that they didnt do all ,if any checks on the builders and as with any disasters there is always someone out to make a fast buck.
