Hi all,

I am a fulltime daytrader trading the US stock market from Ireland. I am self employed and was wondering if anyone had information about the tax status of someone daytrading in Ireland?

Mick.

Don't worry too much about tax.

You will gradually lose all your money.

If, by some fluke, you have a lucky year and make a profit, it will be subject to income tax. But you should have plenty of losses forward to set against the profits. If you are unlucky enough to make the fluke profit in the first year, you will pay tax on it, but won't be able to use the losses in subsequent years.

The brokers charging you fees will pay taxes on the profits they earn from you though.
