Im looking at buying a Nissan Navara crew cab. Its basically a pick up with an extra row of seats and can carry 5 people. Up until july 2003 these were classed as full commercial with only €50 VRT but then Charlie Mc copped that loads of people were buying them as there primary vehicle and claiming the vat back on tham. Section 101 was introduced and they reverted to being (i think) clas b commercial being liable for 13.5% VRT. Im looking at buying one as I am self employed and registered for vat. What portion of the value of the vehicle can i claim the vat back on.? Also if Im buying second hand, is there any benifit in buying a pre section 101 model, ie. a pre july 2003 model?
