Credit Union - transfer account?

I've been with my current Credit Union for just under six months but have now moved home and it's not very convenient. Is it possible to transfer my account to another Credit Union?

If this is possible, will the six months that I've been saving be taken into account or will I have to start from scratch? I'm asking because I was hoping to apply for a small loan in a few weeks and I know you have to be saving with them for a while.

Any help greatly appreciated.
 
Yes you can. I transferred money from an accoutn in a credit union in Dublin to Galway and the CU made a note on my account to the effect that I had a history of saving with another credit union.

All credit unions are separate entities as such but is you are transferring savings from one to the other, they do take your saving record into account.
