Myhusband checked his credit report for the first time only to find out that he has a negative item in collections. It's from the gas company, essentially he was living with a group of friends and the gas bill was in his name. He stupidly assumed that they would continue to pay after he moved out, but they didn’t.
Regardless the amount on the credit report is for $916, now I assume if we try to pay it they are going to add on tons of interest. But at the same time we would like to try and increase his credit score because we are looking to buy a house soon.
What’s our best strategy??
