credit card revoked

My boyfriend had an Avant/MBNA credit card for many years. Early last year it was cleared, but he wanted to keep his card so he didn't close the account. In the meantime we moved house (we rent) and he never changed his address with Avant Card. Long story short the annual stamp duty was added in April '14 which became unpaid for a month or two after. When his card expired Avant Card said his new one was revoked. He paid the small outstanding balance, still gets a monthly bill but has no card.
We are looking to get a mortgage soon, will this look bad on the credit report? He wants a card but I'm not sure it's a good idea applying for a card right before a mortgage application?
Thanks

You should get your ICB cerdit report. The credit card duty mix-up may not appear and even if it does you may be able to get it removed. In any event the explanation is reasonable. Probably better off without the credit card re mortgage application as some banks view the limit as potential borrowings and reduce the mortgage offer accordingly.

Aphrodite.

Card closed and he didn,t think of annual charge, paid off soon thereafter, so should not be an issue.
