I've just noticed that a credit card transaction is appearing twice on my account.

Do I contact the retailer or the bank to have this corrected?

I'd contact both if I was you - your CC company first to register the fact that there seems to be an unauthorised transaction and then get onto the retailer to investigate why. Any chance it's an online transaction where a form submit button was inadvertently clicked twice!?
 
No, the offender is my local supermarket. Will contact both today to sort it out
 
Have to say I was very happy with the way AIB handled the one and only disputed transaction I've ever had on a Credit Card.

Me too! But I was advised to pay the full amount due on the credit card bill and the error would be refunded - which it was.
 
I have never had any problem with any credit card company in dealing with transactions.

If in doubt about any query always make sure to ring them.
