Credit Card protection on mail oder purchases

I purchased computer components from a UK internet retailer but have not received the goods 14 days after dispatch from the retailers warehouse (UK postal service) was confirmed by e-mail. I paid for the goods with Master Card - what protection do credit card companies offer their cardholders on mail order transactions where the goods have been lost in transit ?

I would wait another week at least as postal service from UK to Ireland for parels has been very much delayed for the past few months and a few orders I have placed have taken over 3 weeks to be despatched.
