I recently attempted to close a credit card account but before it closed they charged me a stamp duty (in Jan 09) of 30 euro.
I checked my CC statements for the past year and can see that I also paid a stamp duty in April 08 of 30 euro. I would have thought this was for the year Apr 08 to Mar 09. However the bank are claiming that you pay in April for the year gone by, so the Jan charge is for 08-09 and I would have had to pay it in April had I not requested to close the account.
Anyone know if this is correct or am I being double charged?
