Creating a DVD slide show with digi photos and audio

Hi.. Im looking to transfer my digital photos, creating a slide show with audio.
Is there a user friendly software (pref free) that allows you to edit it in such a way that you can say have a grid where you pop in your photos and audio track.. It would have to be precise as to change the last photo with the exact start of the next audio track.. Also if it could pop in text/graphics on top of some photos instead of having to use photoshop and importing..

Microsoft have a free product which might also be of assistance...

I have used it and it is very simple to use.

I'd second MemoriesOnTv - if you're doing to do this a few times it's worth paying for and it's not that expensive; you can download an evaluation / demo to try it out.

Another method to assemble a series of images into a movie is to use Movie Maker software that is included with Windows XP. Load Movie Maker, choose file - new - project, choose File - Import, open the required folder and select photo files, click on open, wait while the clips are created, then drag ALL the clips into the Timeline or Storyboard view.
Audio clips can also be added to the Timeline in the same manner.
