Court orders Sky to send end of contract notifications

They also need to be compelled to make it easier to cancel - let out be as simple as a button on the app, it an option to select a number when you phone them...

Does this court order oblige Virgin Media to do likewise.

Totally agree that it should be just as easy to cancel as to sign on, certainly on a shared delivery network such as SIRO.

They already do don't they?
In September 2024 ComReg started an investigation into eir, Virgin Media, Three, Vodafone, and Sky over their compliance with regulations in this area.

Of the investigated providers, eir Virgin Media, Three, and Vodafone confirmed they were issuing end-of-contract, best-tariff advice, and best-tariff information notifications to their customers.

I cancelled my Sky broadband, TV a few months ago. I was paying a ridiculous €125 per month and dependent on a signal from a dish which
in the last few months was renderred useless by overgrown tree branches so I actually had no TV coerage. I got an alternative proider for €44 p.m. so happy days.
However, I have been hounded by Sky since then demanding €80 from me. I went through the correct channels (in so far as I could) to cancel, send back the equipment etc. I have 3 times requested them to send me details of how they arrived at the €80 I allegedly owe them which of course they have not addressed but continue to harrass me with these letters.

I’m abroad and had a dish installed nearby 20 years ago, have 2 sky boxes from the uk and get free to air, zero costs apart from the original arrangement with the installer.

Just to note that free to air satellite TV broadcast on the Astra satellite group is likely to end c. 2029 although the precise end of lifetime/decommissioning date isn't exactly clear at the moment as far as I know.

Good to know. If my dish goes caput I’ll other options now if needed. I’ve already got an internet radio as well which gives me RTE radio annd the BBC And google thing also does it etc. Dish has been moved once, so I’ve got great value out of it. Now that there is Netflix etc one watches terrestrial tv but rarely.

Interestingly, the installers say that SES have signed a fresh contract with Arqiva guaranteeing access until at least 2030. Free access for the next 4 years is still a pretty good deal even on a fresh install.
