Costs of plans

Hi

We are getting some work done on an existing structure on our house and are looking for prices for someone to draw up plans and to submit them for planning. Also a retention of an existing roof. What is the charging structure for this. We've had a set fee quoted of approx €1300 and another of approx €1600. Is this about right? We're in Galway city.

If the architect in question will help you get through the planning stage then that sounds about right. If it's a firm or architects then it's a bargain. If it's a nixer and it's just the plans then it sounds a bit steep.

1,300 is not bad for plans and submissions. make your you agree they will complete all dealing with thte council, sometime you may get lucky and the council accepts your first plans but sometimes you may have to go back several times for approval.
