I know this is a how long question, but what would be the approx cost per sqm for the following carpeting of stairs, landing and 2 bedrooms, have quote and hard to know if it's reasonable

Remove existing carpet and dispose

Install underlay 10/11mm

Install new carpet good Lano brand, 10/15 year guarantee

All grippers, and few door plates

The area has been measured, so total is circ 50sqm, bedrooms are 14 and 10sqm, he stairs has a few winders,

One company suggested keep underlay, as it was good quality (existing carpet is Ulster and decent underlay came from TC Matthews), but it's down 15years, so not sure if keeping underlay us worth the ghost saving.

What price would you expect for the complete job, as hard to get companies out to measure and not sure if €45 per sqm is good or bad price.

Might as well replace underlay, it's dirt cheap so cost saving can't be that much. You should be able to knock off 400-500 if you clear all the old carpet and flooring yourself, make sure you've thoroughly vacuumed as well.

is that a wool blend? if so €45 per sqm seems ok.
82 sqm in a synthetic (so called 'bleachable') carpet came to c. €2,500 recently, all the floors were fully cleared and ready to go.

We have a small downstairs toilet. About 3' x 3'. We bought a nice lino and had it installed, all in about €120. When the carpet layer was here wee asked him to turn the carpet on the stairs that was showing wear on the edge of about 4 steps. He did this for €75. The worn bits were hidden and it's like a new carpet.
