I would appreciate any suggestions on the most cost effective method of shipping (courier?) a box (approx 7Kg) to France and another box (approx 15kg) to Germany.

I've received quotes from DHL (130 and 170 euro respectively) and was wondering if anyone had come across a more cost effective option.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Galwegian44

Can you confirm the dimensions of the boxes concerned ?

Rudolf289,

The box to France is approx. 28cm x 27cm by 40cm in height.
The box to Germany is approx. 30cm x 44cm by 30cm in height.

Thanks for your response.

Hi Galwegian44

Based on the info you submitted, I would be charged by FEDEX on my account as follows ;

1) France € 37.15 plus Fuel s/c
2) Germany € 53.75 plus Fuel s/c

Fuel surcharge I think is 22% at the moment. Obviously these are subject to VAT.

That would be for a 24/48 hour Air service.

I reckon if you contact DPD or GLS, who operate a ground / roadfreight service you should be paying in the region of € 15 per parcel. The transit time would be 4 to 5 days. I reckon if you were to do this on a regular basis you could probably get even lower.

For DPD have a look at [broken link removed]

For GLS try http://www.gls-group.eu/276-I-PORTAL-WEB/content/GLS/IE01/EN/1.htm

Hope this helps
