Hi All,
I need to get certificate of building compliance for a recently completed
attic conversion (non-habitable storage area with a folding stairs for access and velux to the rear).
Any ideas how much this would cost and is it a surveyor i need
to get it done?

Thanks in advance for any replies...

Re: cost of compliency cert

are you sure you require planning?? did you incorporate any new windows?

you may be looking for a certificate for exemption from planning....

anyway....
neither should cost you any more than €400-€500

Thanks for the quick reply sydthebeat,

I'm pretty sure i dont need planning only external difference is
velux to the rear which i believe is exempt.
Someone told i would need a cert for building compliance to
say it is up to standard construction wise and also would need this
if ever put the house up for sale.
Maybe i need a cert for exemption from planning as you say also, didnt
know such a thing existed.

Do i need both ??

I got a a cert for building compliance for my last house's extension in order to proceed with selling it.
Can't remember exactly how much it cost but it was around €150.

I have the guys contact details if you want them.

I got one recently - it's a cert of compliance, and it states that the conversion is an exempt development.

Cost was € 250 (Dublin area). Cert arrived by post 2 days later.

PM me if you want contact details.

If you are getting a cert for legal purposes - eg sale re-mortgage, then it needs to deal with planning permission and building regulations, confirming that the works were exempt from both, as the case may be

Thanks guys for the replies,is for re-sale purposes will get
cracking on same..........

Frash and YouNeek, regarding your certificates of compliance; were the certs issued by the person that drew them or were the drawings certified independently?
thanks.
