Contractor rights - change of role

I am a permanant employee of a contracting company working in a large multinational. I was taken on as an Engineer over two years ago for a particular project which is now coming to a close. I have been informed by the multinational company that they will not need my services from the end of this month but I have not yet been given any formal notice by my actual employer (the contracting company). My contract states my job title and my notice period (4 weeks).

I am wondering if the contracting company can force me into another role (there are lower roles available in the multinational company) or if they need me to sign a new contract to do this?

Any advice much appreciated

If they haven't contacted you they can just give you a call a day before and pay you for your notice... if they have other work for you they might bring you back into te office... at the end of the day they are making money off you by having you out on site if they dont theyll get rid of you unfortuantely... also there may be other roles in the MNC but this would mean a cut in your salary etc.... this is common place in this industry, PM me if you furtehr info...
