If you're involved in an accident and its not your fault, do you still need to notify your own insurance company to let them know, even though you won't be making any claims off them?

Hi Ash, it would generally be advised to let your insurer know just so as they have a recorded if it in case for some unknown reason you are seen as either at fault or partially at fault. It's really just a case of covering your own back.

Hi

Just to let you know it is a policy condition to advise your insurer of any incident you are involved in regardless of whether you are at fault or not.

If down the road the third party comes back and says they find you at fault and you have not notified your insurer.... your insurer can decline cover on the basis of late notification.

So better to ring them and let them now. Cheers.

Thanks tester, had'nt realised that before today. Done that now and all is well.
