What state is the holiday home rental market in?
Is there an oversupply of rental properties?
Have rents been raising or flat?
What size property is most popular - I guess family sized, 6ish beds?
What is a reasonable number of weeks one could expect to rent?
 
Hi, we bought a property in clifden last easter 12 months. Construction had only begun , but it is now finished. We have passed the rental of the property onto a company called 'imagine ireland'. They rent holiday weeks to english families. We had one booking in may, 3 in june, 2 in july, we have taken it for 2 weeks in july and a few weeks in sep. It is also booked for 3 weeks in august. We had to give the amounts that wanted for each week. Being beginners we priced too low. Off season 250, july aug, 550. However we hope it will be a lot better next year. 8 thousand a year would cover all costs, so hopfully it will make a few quid. Also we go there quite often we are only 1.5 hours away from the town. By the way it is a 3 bed town house in the centre of clifden and it cost 225,000 plus 10,000 for stamp duty and fees. I cant tell you if you are going to make money, but try and rent to english families as they leave the place as they found it.
