Connecting LCD t.v to DVD player

Connection question:
32" LCD TV Tevion (from Aldi) to Tevion hdmi DVD player.
TV working fine but DVD player says loading but nothing happens.
When I press input/av - I get a blue screen which says no signal.
Complete newbie at this -as I am replacing a very old t.v.
so simple answer needed.
Do I need additional cabling?
 
hi, i presume you have used scart lead or hdmi cable for the connection between tv and dvd?

No scart lead
hdmi cable between tv and dvd
DVD player does not say playing , just loading.
Disc is DVD video.

On tv channnel info it says e.g. bbc1 PAL1 Nicam stereo.
 
Think there might be a problem with the dvd reading the disc, did you try a different one?
 
Several DVDs tried - loading messge/clicking sound. set it to AV..

p.s These have all beeen old DVDs (freebies) as this is our first DVD player!
 
Replacement player connected.
insert dvd - sound plays - but screen just wavy lines....
DVD player shows a revolving circle and playback time....
 
Sorry for delay in responding, had a bit of a catastrophy here, I'm at a loss, sounds a bit like interference from something or other, could you try powering off sky box or other appliances, dont really know after that.
Anybody else have any suggestions????
 
Success at last -
yellow thingy was connected to coaxil output digital - i changed it to video output to t.v. input.
It pays to read the instructions carefully...
