Connect i-Pod to Hi-Fi?

Apologies for the basic nature of my question.........
I have recently been given an i-Pod as a gift and find it a brilliant little gadget.
I would really like to also be able to play my music through my existing CD player. I know this is not possible as my CD player is quite old and has no USB port.
Is it possible to get a CD player with a USB port so that I can simply plug in the i-Pod and play my music through the HI-FI speakers?

I know it's possible to get speakers for the i-Pod but I need something with a CD player / radio also.

I'm sure what I'm looking for is available, if anybody has something similar could they offer recommendations???

Thanks for that Tiger but it's a fairly old stereo that I have and I don't think it has the input port required.
Any ideas on a new stereo to handle the job?
 
What kind of hi-fi do you have? Does your hi-fi not have an 'AUX' or 'line-in' input on the back?
 
Have you considered the latest iTrip 2008 from Griffin technologies. It can be used on any FM radio so maybe your CD Player (if it has built in radio) may not be redundant after all.

We bought a nice Panasonic CD Player/Radio Stereo thingy oh about 6 months ago in Peats Electronics, and we just connect the i-Pod to the Music Port which is especially designed for connecting all sorts of MP3 layers with one of those connectors that have headphone type connection at both ends.

Most new Hi-Fis will have something similar now as well as USB ports on some models, check out Dixons etc.

You can buy FM transmitters in most stores now. Plug into Ipod and tune the frequency into your Hi-Fi and work away. Get yourself a pack of rechargeable batteries though.

Maybe 15-25 Euro but well worth it. Quality can be variable. Try to get one with a high voltage . . .think the minimum standard is 12.5 volts
