Composite Fence

Hi

I am installing composite fence on battens. It's ship lap so you screw in the first panel and the next panel slides over the screws etc. Do I need an expansion gap at the end of each row? I.e. don't fully butt the ends together. If I do this and leave a gap it takes away from the continuous run effect (it looks like cedar battens).

Why do you need an expansion gap on composite? Isn't it essentially plastic?

Went out to take the picture this morning. I had the it butted together with no gaps but a gap has now formed. Given it was warm yesterday when the fence went up it may answer the question about expansion.

Ah right I see what you mean now.

You need to cover the join with a trim piece.
