Compaq Presario laptop- Problems with screen display

Hi

Over the last few days I have been having problems with the screen display on my Compaq laptop. It started out with distorted images on the bottom 1/3 of the screen. Initally moving the screen backwards and fowards resolved it. Now though the bottom 1/3 of the screen is continually distorted, and I can't move the cursor in this area. Would anyone know what is causing this, and how it can be fixed ?

Sounds like a hardware fault since if sorted itself by you moving the screen - the screen or cable connecting it may be faulty. Nothing you can you yourself unless your fairly technical - I priced a screen for my fujitsu with the same problem and it was €350 installed.
