Company outside Ireland wants to hire me remotely. How do I deal with tax?

I'm a bit clueless on this stuff so I would like to ask for advice from some people who might know better. So a company from outside Ireland wants to hire me to work for them on the internet. The job would be full-time in a freelancing capacity in that it is not meant to be a long-term arrangement. I spend about 50-60 per cent of my time abroad, although I'm assuming taking this particular role counts as working in Ireland.

What would the tax situation be with this? I would be working exclusively for one company so to me it doesn't sound like it falls under self-employment. Can it be counted as self-employment if it's a freelance arrangement whereby I'm not committing to working for this company long-term?

The owner of that company also wants to know whether he would be required to pay social benefits for me, which I'm assuming means PRSI. Sorry if this information is easy to find, I can't seem to find a resource online that deals with my situation. Thanks for any help.
