My husband and I have never combined our tax credits..I work part time now. Is it worth doing?

Joint assessment

Joint assessment is the option that benefits most couples. Under joint assessment you are chargeable to tax on your combined total income.
Under joint assessment you may be better off depending on your circumstances (which you give no information on) but you shouldn't be any worse off.

Again ...
... a Money Makeover would be a better way to address such questions.

If you earn less then 10k, all your personal tax credits would transfer to your husband.

If you earn between 10k and 20k some of your personal tax credits could transfer to your husband.

If you earn less than 44k, some or up to 9k of your 20% tax band can transfer to your husband.

This is possible if you are jointly assessed.

The most tax efficient combination of tax bands and credits would be automatically applied when you submit a statement of liabilities on Myaccount each year.
