Hi

Where the death of a partner occurs and that person was in receipt of the old age pension (now stopped) does the surviving partner have any entitlement to any social welfare welfare benefits arising from the death? as in her own right she is aged 65 and will not qualify for the old age pension until next year.

Any help appreciated

I think the clue is in the name "widow's pension"

It is only available to a spouse or civil partner of the deceased

There may be an entitlement to payment for 6 weeks after the death of the pensioner. It depends on what social welfare payment the cohabiting partner is getting.
There is no entitlement to a widow's pension for a cohabiting partner.
