Class 2 Car Insurance - advice needed

I have taken on a new role which involves the use of my own vehicle for business use. My employer has advised that I must obtain Class 2 insurance as a result.

From searching online this appears to apply to vehicles used for carrying goods it medical supplies.
"Car Insurance Class 2
Class 2 use covers social, domestic & pleasure use, and use in the connection with the business of the insured, but excludes commercial travelling or the solicitation of business. "

I'm just wondering if anyone can advise if any of the main insurance suppliers like FBD for example specialise in this type of car insurance and whether or not this is expensive?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I also had Class 2 for a number of years and my experience was that it could cost from €50 to €120 extra depending on the insurance company.

Also at least one of the companies stated that their 'normal' insurance covered the class 2 requirement. I can't remember which company this was but it was one of the mainstream companies. I was reimbursed by my employer for the extra cost.

Thanks for that

it depends on what cover your current insurers has given you. Some give social domestic and pleasure only. Others give business use in line with your occupation as defined in the policy.

If you went with someone like 123 then you probably got the most basic of covers. Every provider will give it to you. So you don't need to go to a new company for it. Just ring and ask your current insurer to do it.
