Class 2 Appeal

Hi there, I have a query that hopefully someone can help with. I have been classified as eligible to pay Class 3 contributions with 5 qualifying years but I believe I am eligible for Class 2. I have submitted my appeal and supporting documentation last week by registered post.

Given that the deadline is fast approaching, should I pay Class 3 before the deadline and hope that if my appeal is successful I will be reimbursed or can I delay paying any contributions until my appeal is completed? Obviously I do not want to miss out on this one in a life time opportunity.

Thanks Danny, what I am worried about is that I have received my initial Class 3 statement and am wondering do they extend it for appeals?
