Class 2/3: Left out Irish work on CF83, appealing what do they need

Hi All, Hoping not to duplicate questions but I completed the CF83 online after finding out I have 8 years and the gaps are all showing as class 3. I was not working before I left the UK in 2006 and did not work till 2008 in Ireland. However when completing the CF83 I only gave employment here from 2013 to date. My question is does anyone know if appealing ( I rang and they said it was my only course of action) by post, firstly how much evidence do they need and what and indeed would adding years of work here change the class from 3 to 2 anyway.
TIA, I don't have much liquid money to buy back years right now but for some reason 2 years gaps are showing as slightly cheaper (£800 & £796) and I think I may buy these whilst signing up for future years but still unsure what class future years would be.

Write a letter, include all your information and supporting documentation. Keep copies.

I'm gathering paperwork now, two final questions:

1. Statement of Liability / P21 Balancing statements from Revenue are what I'm submitting: Is this enough ?
2. Also if I'm only appealing now, is there a chance this would be reviewed by the cut off date or should I choose to pay the class 3 in the hope they may change to class 2 and thus be due a refund ?

In my case my application came back as all class 3, I sent post in August to appeal and have not heard back. I rang and the person I spoke to reviewed it and said as I was not working at the time of leaving the UK (had a 9mth only baby at the time) and did not return to work in Ireland for another / years later, he said I’m not eligible for class 2 for the years I buy back or going forward. He said it fully comes down to me not working immediately before leaving the Uk. I think I will just have to pay class 3!!

I wonder if someone could give me advice on a somewhat similar situation please?

I have a mixture of Class 2 and Class 3 voluntary contributions that I can make as follows:
These are from the period Tax Year 2007 to 2019 for Class 2 with final time limit for payment 5 April 2025, and period Tax Year 2019 to 2024 for Class 3 with final time limit for payment of 5 April 2026 to 5 April 2030.

I want to only pay for the Class 2 contributions at present, so my query is- if I send the payment amount for the class 2 contributions only now, will this be assigned correctly to the years 2007 to 2019? How can I let HMRC know that the amount I have paid relates to a particular time period, when sending the payment through bank transfer?

Will I be able to send another payment in the future before the final time limit, to cover the class 3 contributions from 2019 to 2024?
Thanks for any advice on this.

Make the payment. Wait a few days and then ring them. They should be able to see your payment on your account and you can then tell them which years to allocate it to.

How does UK Revenue (HMRC) know exactly when you left the UK? I can hardly remember myself.

They have access to a number of datasets. If there's a discrepancy, they'll look for more info from you.
