Claiming husbands tax credits, how long to take effect?

My husband was made redundant in November.
I put in an application at that point to use both our tax credits.
I did this by post. I have not had a response to date.
How long does this normally take? Should I get notice it had been completed? Will my payroll let me know or tax office.
My pay has remained the same since so no change as yet.

Why not register for revenue online services www.ros.ie .You can move credits and srcops very easily.I recently moved credits to my wife on a Monday and the changes were reflected in her wages on Thursday.

With onset of the new tax year I think it might be wise to telephone the Revenue helpline on your tax credit certificate & talk with someone. Postal enquiries can take some time.
