My wife retired from the civil service 2 years ago.
She pays €650 per annum PRSI from an apartment she lets.
She has 504 PRSI contributions.
She says she needs 520 to qualify for the
State Pension.
When will she have the 520 she needs ?

Thank you in advance

Robert

Fist step is to get her PRSI contribution statement.
That will clearly show how many contributions/credits reckonable for the OACP that she has.
It may not reflect any gained in 2025 yet - that may only be updated in the coming months.
16 reckonable contributions - to get from 504 to 520 - take 16 weeks to accumulate.

Does she have a public sector pension ?
She needs to check her Prsi record to see what Prsi class she is paying.

If this is class K, it is not reckonable for COAP.
If it is class S, it is reckonable.

Just to re-iterate what has been mentioned above: the two key words when discussing eligibility for the State Contributory Pension are RECKONABLE Contributions!
