Hi there,

A friend has just passed the interview for a job in the civil service in Dublin.
What Departments is he likely to get offers from? Is there a list of the departments in Dublin that are part of the civil service?

Are the welfare offices part of the civil service or are they under the jurisdiction of the local authorities?

Thanks a mil.

A list of the civil service departments can be found here

http://www.citizensinformation.ie/e...ernment_departments/departments_of_state.html

Not all might be recruiting at this time. The initial advertisement may have listed the departments that are recruiting from the current panel.

Not sure what you mean by welfare offices. The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection manage Intreo offices which offer services to jobseekers and people looking for Social Welfare information.

He could get offers from any department especially if it was a clerical officer post which is general grade recruitment.

Also it's not a case of getting "offers" but rather an offer for a specific department. You don't really get to pick and choose from several!

A CO could end up anywhere but can, in time, try transfer somewhere more suitable, even if they'll be at the end of a long waiting list! A grade like AO would more likely be posted in a policy area (although AOs can end up in the Irish Prison Service these days).
