hi,

I'm a civil servant on a career break. I thought if i left i could take my pension in a lump sum, but seeing as i was there for 5 years its a no go.

So what im wondering is if i leave after my career break can i continue to add to that pension or do i wait until 65 for a tiny pay out.

You can't contribute to a pension when you no longer work for the company providing it.

You could most likely take the pension before age 65. You'd need to ask your HR dept. for details in your specific case.

If you are not in pensionable employment of a business then you can't contribute to the pension scheme of that business.

If you leave a pension having been a member > 2 years then you can't take a refund of your contributions.
