i received a civil bill
looking for advice on how to deal with this issue

Its obviously a demand for payment of a debt.

You might need to talk to a financial advisor or a solicitor with debt experience to explore your options.
 
After this length of time the debt may be classed as 'statute barred'... suggest reading this before making any contact with Cabot

Statute barred debt

My query is regarding the 6 year statute of limitations on unsecured debt i.e credit card. I am aware of the general rules on this but there is one particular area on which I am unclear, the issue being as follows : I had a Halifax ( Bank of Scotland ) credit card on which I made my last payment...

If you haven't made any payment in the last six years, or acknowledged the debt in writing in the last six years the debt is statute barred. This is your defence to the civil bill so you will probably need a solicitor to file an appearance and submit a defence to the court and Cabot.

I don't think there's enough details to say if statute barred or not., hence my initial response.

I note you are a new poster and you should me aware that some financial institutions keep an eye on this BB, so don't post enough details to identify you!!
