Chorus charging my mum for service she cancelled?

Hi,
Contacted chorus last year to cancel my mum's subscription in her name and change it to my name.
They said no problem and to send a fax with both our signatures requesting the change and both our bank details. We sent the fax (which I still have a copy of including the fax confirmation sheet).

Since then they have said 1. They asked us to send the fax and had received it but 'they don't do that any more', 2. They didn't ask us to send the fax, had received it but 'they don't do that any more, and 3. they never asked us to send a fax and didn't receive it.

They are now sending her threatening letters saying they will take her to court. I have tried many times to speak to them but they wont let you wait on hold and 'supervisors' never call you back.

I have since left the address and informed them over the phone of that.

Any advice. She is getting pretty distressed by now.

Why don't you just close the account, you do have to give them 30 days notice though and say you want to open a new account in your mother's name.

Personally I cant wait to do a runner from this crowd, now upc, I hate em with a vengence.
 
Me too! Just bought freesat box to free myself from all dealings with tv companies...

It's all a bit in limbo though..., sending the fax should have been the notice that she wanted to close her account (last november), and they never opened one for me. They got paid until February so they should be happy enough.

Am composing 'strongly worded' letter so I'll post how I get on, and if I glean any valuable info in the process.
