Im taking voluntary redundancy from my job at the end of the month(third baby, more in childcare to justify working). Im going to receive a small lump sum, and have decided to pay to do a degree part-time, it will take four years, just time for when all my kids will be in school and i will try returning to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions in what sector to get a qualification in that may offer jobs in four years? i did work in H.R but am totally open to a career change. i'll be 35 by time i get back to work. Thanks.

Hi, anything to do with children is usually a good bet as they will always be around. Youth work qualification is handy to have.

There are a few personality/psychometric/psychological tests available on line which can give guidance on the area/s you are best suited to. Within that range then you could look at what might give good career options in the future. Otherwise really, toss a coin! I've taken a few of those tests in the past and found them reasonably accurate in terms of guidance as to areas of interest. Think FAS has one online, and there are lots of others.
