Chinese Renminbi Currency

Hi
I was in China recently and opened up an euro account there to put my funds into as I'm living abroad. As a corollary of opening up this account i also have a RMB account which I'm not using.
I was thinking perhaps it would be wise to put some of the euros into RMB account in case the euro was to devalue with possible bail-outs. Also I believe china is gradually allowing the currency to float and at the moment it is artificially weak. What are people views on denominating some of my savings in Chinese Yuan?

Hi Eoghan,
Post is a few months old but did you open up an RMB account in the end? I'm looking to do the same but haven't been to China. Is it possilbe to open an account from Ireland do you know?

Des.

Hi Des
yes I opened one and have most of my savings in China in EUR. I also have a RMB account however the government have banned online transfers of RMB to other currencies and I don't live in China hence I cannot use this account.
