I would agree. I do think its a good idea to chase this up if you have any suspicions, but I would go directly to the charity.
I think some charities claim the money back for the whole year in one go and you would have no way of knowing when they do this, so there could be a delay between giving the money and the Revenue clawback.
In answer to your question, I have no idea if Revenue keep records in this level of detail. All they have to do it confirm that the donor paid PAYE, so they would have no reason to keep a record on the charity clawback attached to the record of the taxpayer.
