Charge for fitting carpets

Hi Folks. Is it usual practice to be charged extra for getting carpets fitted by the shop supplying them. I thought that this service was always included in the price and if not you were made aware of this extra cost before making the purchase.

Yes.
Carpets can be purchased at TAP (Take away price) meaning you carry it home on your back or stick it in the boot of your car, cut it to the correct shape and size and lay it yourself.
Or
The shop will do it for you complete with felt, gripper and door strips if required.

That of course means of course 2 very different prices. You should discuss this with the shop before you purchase and decide which option is for you

In my experience, fitting is extra. The cost of underlay, fitting, grippers and door strips can add a lot to the price.

Bit like bringing a case with Ryanair I suppose. You pay €1 for the flight and €30 for the suitcase!
