Changing Euros into Dollars in advance of holiday?

Hello all,
Would it be better value to change about €600 in $ before I go on holiday or use the cash machines there?

Also, if so, is there anywhere that has better rates and is cheaper than others? ie. the post office vs the banks?

Ok, bit of an assumption here, but I am going to assume you are talking about American dollars.

Got a marginally better rate from this crowd as opposed to the P.O. or banks.

They have a good few branches throughout Ireland. (no connection with them).

I used a Visa debit (BOI) card last month there and was given a dismal rate, plus an overseas charge and the biggest allowed single withdrawal (without going into the bank) was $160 at the ATM !!!
Your bank maybe different.

Hard to know what to do as I don't like carrying too much cash, but the Visa debit was accepted everywhere albeit with problems in some retailers.

You can order through Fexco site and collect at credit unions all over the country, must have an account though. Great service, very quick.
