Hi there,

I own together with my wife, seperated but not divorced, a property in Ireland since 2008. Up until 2017 this was my principal private residence when living in Ireland. I have moved back to Germany in 2017, living, working here and taxes are applied in Germany. When my wife and I, she is still living in the property, sell this property, I assume she will be CGT exempt due to the house being her principal private residence. Are there any Irish taxes due for me on the proceeds of the sale? I assume not as I am German tax resident. So the sale would be only consdered for tax purposes from a German perspective? Any views? Thanks!

It's ok to get ideas and suggestions on askboutmoney.

But with so many moving parts - separation, principal private residence relief and non-residency, you should consult a tax advisor if there is a significant capital gain.
