CGT on sale of US shares

Please could you advise me on what FX rate to use to convert the USD amount received on sale of US shares for the purpose of CGT calculation.

You need to check the FX rate from the day you acquired the shares, and then from the day you sold them. I use the historical rates at https://www.exchange-rates.org/history/USD/EUR/T personally

Shouldn't you use the fx rate on the contract note? I do.

If the purchase and sale are through a brokerage account denominated in USD then there is no exchange rate involved in the transaction, so it will not be mentioned on the contract note
