CGT - loss carry forward versus personal exemption

Hi,
If I have a 1000 euro cgt loss from a couple of years ago and this year have a 1570 gain, is it ok to only use 300 of the loss and carry forward the other 700 euro? (as I could use the 1270 annual personal exemption also).
OR do I have to use all the loss first and then effectively waste some of the exemption?

You must use up previously incurred losses first before applying the annual CGT allowance. In this case you offset €1000 of the loss and carry €570 forward and don't get a chance to use your annual allowance (unless you realise other gains above €570 before the year is out).
