CGT Gains and losses

For the tax year 2005 I made approx €600 in share sales but also a loss of appox €1400 in other share sales. Hence the net loss was €800. I have a sizeable capital gain coming to me through the Vodafone B-share issue to I want to minimise my exposure to CGT.

As my gain (€600) was less than the yearly allowance of €1270 can I carry the loss of €1400 forward or can I only carry €800 forward. I suspect it is the latter but I hope it could be the former........:)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry you must use your lossess first

the net gain, after loss relief, can then be reduced by your annual exemption
