Cert of compliance

Hi

Just had house redone & plumbing put in from stratch. The plumber also put in gas boiler which was checked by gas board because he is not registered. They advised getting a 'declaration' from the plumber and so far he has not issued it.

My engineer has informed me he cannot sign off the cert of compliance until the plumber issues this document. Unfortunately I have paid him in full.

Can anyone advise?

Thats strange, usually the gas board won't connect meter unless the cert of compliance is on site. Did BG pass the installation and Did they connect meter?. I assume the installation complied with IS 813:2000 otherwise they would not have passed it. If this is the case the plumber has nothing to fear. Have you tried talking to the plumber?

it always comes down to responsibility...

the gas bord dont want to take it
the engineer doesnt want to take it
and it appears the plumber doesnt want to take it.. did he tell you when you hired him that he wouldnt/couldnt stand over his work?? does he have PI insurance to stand over his work?? maybe not..!!!

id stay after him.. .absolutely hound him...

but if he refuses, your only other option is to pay a register professional to check all the work in order to certify... that could cost you....

(just say davys post.... did the bord connect it?? i didnt read that into the op??)

I am very confused now. The plumber installed the boiler and the gas company did come out and do the checks etc and filled out a form. I have a copy fo the declaration of conformance signed by the plumberHowever on the form the gas company filled, it states I need a declaration from the plumber.

Perhaps I misunderstood & I already have it?
