cert of compliance

Will probably depend on the item in question and what it must comply with I guess?
 
.1. why do I want to know?? Odd question, does this mean that you dont want to pass on this information?

.2. Am I trying to write my own? Another odd question. If I see someone on AAM looking for information, and I can supply an answer to that information, I would help them - not look for reasons why they want the information.

However, despite your questions, I have been given a COC but it is vague in the extreme. The jist of which is as follows "I xxxxx certify that the property at xxxxx is compliant with the relevent Acts and permissions granted for the erection of said dwelling"

Before I confront the Author, I would like to know if the cert of comp. given to me complies with the rules of certs of compl.
 
check the wording with your solicitor
certain opinions are recognised, i.e. those signed by RIAI members, IEI members etc, these have wordings which have been agreed with the law society.
in the past any opinion was considered ok as long as the person signing it has PI insurance. this appears to be tightening a bit recently.
at the most basic level the opinion should state that the building is generally in compliance with the relevant planning permission, and with the building regulations in place at the time of its construction.
if you didnt lodge a commencement notice for example, you are not in compliance...

asking if your are trying to write your own is a very valid question as many self-employed certifiers have spent years creating their own wording of the certs... so theres a very small likelyhood they would share that wording FOC....

well... if it IS a cert of compliance then it has been accepted by a solicitor as such.... there are no 'rules'... only whats acceptable or not...

It doesn't read like any CoC I have received or seen (three in total). It should be on headed paper and be signed by someone who has appended appropriate professional qualifications under their signature.
