Central Heating Room Thermostat suggestions anyone ?

I have a room thermostat which doesn't click in and activate until 21 degrees.

Given that the costs of heating are soaring++, I'd like to be able to reduce that temperature activation greatly and am looking for suggestions for a different room thermostat that will do the job anyone?
 
Thanks Johnjoda, I considered that suggestion last year , but prefer to keep a room thermostat but as per my query, I need a more adaptable one than I currently am stuck with.
 
If you want to upgrade your room stat you can fit either a digital room stat or a programmable room stat.

The programmable stat has a time switch built into it and has the advantage that you can program different temperatures for different times of the day or days of the week.

The digital room stat just operates on temperature.

Both types display the current room temperature, which can be useful.
They're also battery operated and will just replace your existing unit with no additional wiring required.

You can buy them from the larger DIY stores like B&Q, or from heating merchants. In my experience electrical wholesalers don't tend to have them.
I bought a Sunvic stat last year in B&Q when we upgraded our boiler.

The programmable ones are expensive, by the way.
 
There are tons of room stats on the market, head to your local plumbing suppliers and they should be albe to show you a few different types and explain how they work. They are all easy to fit and rewire.
 
I have a Belux room thermostat on the system which has a Horstmann electronic timer controlling both hot water and heating seperately.

I have also tried a Potterton room thermostat which my local building provider recommended and hoped should do the trick. Unfortunately , it was no better than what I am currently using and still clicked in at 21 degrees. Yes , I also tried the electrical suppliers but no luck there either I'm afraid.

I really need is the name of a make/model of a room thermostat which actually works and will come on line at a low temperature but as you can see, I'm not having much luck in spite of my efforts to date.
 
If your room stat will only 'click in' at 21 degrees (even when set at a lower temp) bring it back!!!! its faulty

Also, what wires are running to the stat? onle live in - live out?
if so, most good stats require a neutral, this is used in the 'anticipator / accelorator' to enable quick closing of the contact when temp is reached
 
There is a good chance that if this is a fixed stat (user cannot change setting) if you open it up you will find an adjuster which is used to calibrate it which can be turned up or down a few degrees.
