CAT rules re thresholds

    In a scenario where someone received a gift from a parent in 2005/6 which was less than 80% of the applicable threshold at the time but above the threshold today, assume any further inheritance is fully taxable at the prevailing rate (notwithstanding the fact the 2005 threshold wasnt used in full)

    Sounds correct, add the gifts/inheritances together and anything over €310K is taxable. The 80% threshold figure is the figure that triggers a requirement to file an IT38.
