Hello ladies and gents,
We are interested in opening few casinos in Ireland. Probably slot's onlyu at the start... But we cant find any info on that.
We didnt see any kind of casinos in Ireland what so ever... Only some arcade halls.

So are they legal? How popular are they in Ireland?

Gratefull for any info.

There's one in Wexford as well (at least there was), but I can't remember the name of it.

there are a few in the country alright.
Places like ballybunion and lahinch and a few more.

They are generally considered unbelievably tacky though.

They will never become popular here as a result.

No cliches here but I think irish people would rather spend (waste?) their money on drink than gambling?

The first hit for a search on "Casino" and "Pages from Ireland" on Google.ie returned this list.

I've been to a few (Colossus and Merrion definatly, a couple of others too), but it's normally after a night out and with a few too many drinks on board (see, we Irish can multi-task rmelly :p).

Most of my trips were around the time the big surge in online poker was taking place a few years ago, so lots of interest in the poker tables. Not sure if this has grown or dropped off the last few years as I haven't been in ages. From (hazy) memory, the options were fairly poor (don't think I ever saw anything other than Blackjack, Poker and Roulette... but that could have just been me not looking/knowing other games) and the numbers playing fairly small.

There are casinos in Ireland. I am nearly certain the legal situation is the house cannot make any money from the gambling, but of course this being Ireland, that law is ignored.

I have to disagree with rmelly...I know several people who regularly go to Casinos in Dublin city to finish off a night out. I think there is an increasing market for this...wouldn't be my type of thing though!

ok. so there are some. Can anyone tell me what is pay-off percentage in Ireland? In most countries it is 70-90% so it is high. From replys i may see that in Ireland its not the case :)
Can anyone tell me about law if there is any?

What those of you that visit casino expect?

Probably dublin would be best place for this?

AND THANK YOU for the replys.

thanks so mch - never knew there was such a casino in cork - will be checking it out next friday night! :)

You're taking my comment a bit too literally - as we know, not everyone drinks, so there's always the exception to the rule - in this case your friends may be that exception?

Obviously some people would go, but I don't think the country would be flocking to them - OP asked how popular they were...

Protocol, i have read that,
this will be changed. Ireland is behind the world. So i think soon very soon this law will be withdrawn and changed with some regulations. As government misses on this...

Or maybe it is changed already? :)
