Carpet quote - correct?

I got a carpet quote for the landing. In the middle of the landing is the stairs area - appox 10 square yards. They have included this area in the quote even though no carpet is being layed here. Is this the norm?

Ask to see the basis for the quote.

I dont know the shape of your landing, but is it the case that they are quoting for
one piece and cutting out a section where the stairs are. they may have no alternative to do with without putting a join in the carpet.

I queried a quote for stairs carpet and was shown the drawing where they calculated the amount of carpet needed. I asked them to redo it as there seemed to be a lot
of wastage and saved quite a bit of carpet which reduced the cost.
