Thank you for replies in advance.

I have been living with my elderly mam for the past few years caring for her and looking after the home place......my own principal residence has been rented out for that period of time as well. I recently applied for the carers allowance to see if I was entitled to something but have been turned down on the strength of having a property rented out and that I work part time from home where the hours are flexiable and allows my to care for her.

After my mam passes on will i entitled to an exemption for living and caring for my mam in over three years with zero help from the state?

I don't think there is a tax category to cover that statement/question.

I think you need to set out the expected value of the estate, the number of beneficiaries and what prior gifts /inheritances you have received, before anyone can give you any sort of meaningful advice.
